Post Secondary Pathways (Apprenticeships, College, Gap Year, Military, University & Workplace)

Fall 2023 Information:

The fall is a very busy time for Gr. 12 students as they continue to research their next steps after secondary school. There are many opportunities during their Gr. 12 year for students to learn more about different pathways. Gr. 12 students have engaged in several presentations which are available on their class D2L as well as much more information about next steps for each pathway.

Here are some important upcoming dates and info for students to be aware of, if they are interested in applying to college/university.

APPLICATIONS FOR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY

Students may begin to apply on-line as soon as possible. College applicants must submit their application by February 1st, 2023 for equal consideration. University applicants must submit their applications by January 15, 2023 if their applications are to receive equal consideration with all other applicants.

This year, Ontario University applications are not using pins to track applications. However, students will need their Ontario Education Number (OEN) in order to apply. This can be found on a previous report card or on their student portal under quick lookup.

It is recommended that College and University applicants apply as early as possible (before the winter break), as the stress on OCAS and OUAC computer resources increases closer to the deadline date.

Full Disclosure Policy

The “Full Disclosure Policy” affects all students taking senior (Grade 11 and 12) courses.

If a student withdraws from a Grade 11 or Grade 12 course on or before 5 school days after the mid-semester reports have been issued, the course will not be recorded on the transcript.
If a student withdraws from a Grade 11 or Grade 12 course more than 5 school days after the mid-semester reports have been issued, the course will be listed on the transcript showing the student’s marks at that time, as well as an indicator that the student withdrew from the course.

The Full Disclosure date for Semester 1 courses is Thursday, November 30, 2023.
