Announcements - October 2nd - October 2nd
Friday October 2nd, 2015

The Senior Girls Basketball team represented Banting well yesterday in an away game against Bradford. Our girls played aggressively and responded well on defense. They demonstrated great sportsmanship and stayed positive. Practices will continue on Tuesday after school. Great work girls!!!

The Senior Boys' Soccer team proved again that they are a determined group of boys that never give up in the face of adversity. Facing a much larger Collingwood team that had solid ball control and possession, the Banting boys found themselves down by 2 at half time. At half with a change in tactics and the boys shaking off the first 45 minutes they came out with a reinvigorated step. Banting controlled the ball much more effectively and worked well as a team unit. Strikers came back hard defensively and defense contributed offensively with Tyler Gerrard and Ethan De Neef both scoring to end in draw. The Senior Boys' have extended their undefeated streak to four games now. Well done and practice resumes on Tuesday.

The Junior Boys Soccer team travelled to Collingwood yesterday hoping to extend their winning streak to 4 games to open their season. The match couldn't have started any better as the Marauders quickly jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Give credit to their pesky opponents who were able to even up the game at 3 goals apiece just before half time. Banting saw a 2 goal advantage disappear due to some defensive lapses and could have let that affect them for the remainder of the match. However, the Marauders came out determined in the second half to turn their fortunes around, and they did exactly that, scoring 3 unanswered goals, securing a 6-3 victory. Congratulation boys! Good luck next week in the Annual Marauder Invitational Tournament.

Yesterday Banting's Cross Country runners travelled to Horsehoe Valley for their second meet. Josh Davidson and Conor Dickson ran a good race in Midget Boys finishing 8th and 16th respectively. Natalile Whidden finished a strong 4th in Junior Girls. In Senior Girls, Caitlin Goodman, Avery Andews and Porsche Reynolds ran a strong race finishing 14th, 15th, and 55th in Senior Girls. Roland Stimpfid ran a much improved race in Senior Boys finishing 29th. A reminded to all cross country runners that we are meeting at Gibson trail Monday Oct 5th at 3:10.

Do you have a musical talent to showcase? Banting Music's annual Fall Coffee House is on Thursday, October 29th! We are looking for talented solo performers, duets, small ensembles, rock bands, spoken word poetry, or any other performance art that you would like to showcase! It's a great opportunity to gain performance experience and display your talents for others! Auditions will take place on Wednesday October 21st and Thursday the 22nd in Room 170! This leaves plenty of time for groups to put their acts together. Sign up on the music room door!

Please excuse the members of the Junior Girls Basketball team at 1:45 today for their game at Bear Creek. The Seniors game was extremely defensive, going into halftime with a score of 0-0. Somehow on a punt from the opposing Invaders, the Seniors were able to move the ball laterally and run it down the field for the only points of the game, allowing the girls to win with a final score of 6-0. In the Junior game, the girls' started off strong, making some good movement on offense and intercepting a number of passes. The girls kept this momentum going into the second half and took the game with a final score of 26-6. Great games ladies! No practice tonight. Practice Thursday after school.

Would the following people please come to see Mrs. Underhill after announcements:
Aariana L., Trinity W., Angela E., Adam B., and Piper D.

Cafeteria: Pulled Pork Today on a Bun or with Mash Potato! See you at lunch!

Bear Creek came out strong, but the Banting girls played some excellent defense, holding them off. Offense played off these strong defensive stands and started rolling as well. The girls scored a touchdown on offense and one on an interception on defense for a final score of 12-0! Great game ladies! Please excuse members of the Senior Girls' Flag Football Team today at 2:10 pm for their game against Innisdale. Good luck ladies!

Yesterday the Senior Boys' Soccer Team faced a pesky and hardworking Bradford team. The boys showed a team effort that resulted in a 2-0 lead at the end of the half. Bradford did not quit though and cut our lead in half after a penalty shot. Banting continued to show defensive resilience and later scored a final goal to end up with a 3-1 win! Well done and see you at practice tomorrow.

The Junior Boys' Soccer Team hosted Bradford District High School yesterday with hopes of extending their perfect start to the season. Bradford proved to be a difficult opponent from the onset but Banting pressed early trying to establish their game. The Marauders enjoyed most of the possession and were able to contain their opponents most dangerous players throughout the match. Banting's effort and discipline paid off as they were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead! Bradford got one back late in the game but the Marauders were able to finish out the match and secure the victory! Banting is now undefeated in 3 games and will hope to continue that good run when they travel to Collingwood on Thursday.

Are you interested in acting, singing and dancing?
